Rudraveena or Rudraveenai is a Tamil mystery-suspense television series directed by Rakesh Sinha. It is an adaptation of Indra Soundar Rajan's book of the same name. From 21 April 2002 to 22 February 2006, the series broadcast 106 episodes on Sun TV on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. local time. Rudraveena replaced another mystery-suspense series in its time slot called Thandhira Bhoomi.[1] This series was remade in Malayalam bearing the same name, but with significant changes to the story. However, the past segment with Baba was dubbed from the Tamil version.

Plot[edit]

300 years ago,[edit]

A Sage order his disciple baba to safety dispatch the Rudhraveenai to Thoodieswaran Temple in Thoodipuram near Cauvery river. Many North & South Indian Kings, Sultans, Kabaligan (Evil Wizard who eat human flesh) and many greed people try to steal the Rudhraveenai (Rudhraveenai is made of Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti they transform himself has veenai and the music will make man kind healthy and Wealthy) Baba help people through his journey and also in Thoodipuram using rudhraveenai. Kabaligan assault Baba and Poision entire village to steal Rudhraveenai with help of thief Virendran . At last moment virendran change his mind due to death of Dasi Malli (virendran mother) at hand of kabaliga. he handover rudhraveenai to baba and he kill kabiligan using the same. In ending Baba make virendran has Rudhran (Protector of Rudhraveenai), Punishment for his past mistakes Virendran (Now Rudhran) swear that he and his male family member will not step out of Navarathna Maligai and serves rudhravenai throughout his life time and his sister Dasi Aparaajitha Vaijayanthi promise that her female member will became dasi and support his brother to protect the Thoodipuram and Rudhravenai till the arrival of last Rudhran (true owner of Rudhraveenai and human form of Lord shiva). Baba continue to protect veenai as soul.

After 300 Years,[edit]

Presently Dasi Sundarambal and his brother Meena Rudhran hide in Rani Bungalow (Formely Navarathna Malagai)(descendants of Virendran & Dasi Aparaajitha Vaijayanthi) secretly administer the Thoodipuram, and make the village has heaven for people where rain never fails, no disease and no sorrow. But no one know about the secret and sorrow of Dasi Sundarambal family include her daughter Bhanu. Dasi waiting for the arrival of last Rudhran (true owner of Rudhraveenai and human form of Lord shiva). In time being Many people enter Rani Bungalow and get punishment from baba for the same. Once again problem start after 'Sakthi Upasagar' Narasimha Barathi enter the village to steal the rudhraveenai for some good reason. Rudhreshwar, reincarnation of Kabaligan try to steal Rudhraveenai but this Goddess Kali kill Rudhreshwar using bairavan. In last episode last Rudhran took rudhraveenai and married Mythili.
